Knife crime affects us all in Sheffield. One bad decision, one moment of anger or fear, can change two families forever. That’s why anonymous Knife Amnesty Surrender Boxes have been placed across the city.
The message is simple: There’s Always An Alternative To Using A Knife.
This isn’t about judgement. It’s about giving people a safe way out.
What Is a Knife Amnesty Surrender Box?
A Knife Amnesty Surrender Box is a secure, yellow steel box where you can dispose of a knife or bladed item safely and anonymously.

• Confidential - No camera pointing at the box
• Safe - No contact with anyone
• No Questions Asked
You don’t need to speak to anyone. You just drop it in and walk away. The boxes are emptied regularly and contents disposed of safely.
How Does It Work?
If you have a knife you no longer want in your house, or you know someone carrying for protection, you can surrender it.
For safety, please wrap the blade securely if possible and go directly to your nearest box. Do not carry it openly.
It’s a chance to make a different choice before it’s too late.

If you can’t get to one, you can also surrender knives at any police station.
There’s Always Another Way
Carrying a knife does not protect you. It puts you at far greater risk of being hurt yourself and of seriously hurting someone else.
If you’re feeling pressured, threatened, or like you need a knife to be safe, please stop and think:
1. Walk away. The bravest thing you can do is leave the situation.
2. Talk to someone. A friend, family member, youth worker, or staff at The Link or Tinsley Forum. You don’t have to deal with it alone.
3. Bin it. Use one of the surrender boxes above. Once it’s gone, you’ve removed the risk.
One decision to bin it could save your life, or someone else’s.
